Madrid Christmas Lights Bus (Navibus): Times & Booking

Updated: June 2026 · by dani

See Madrid's lights without walking: a panoramic double-decker bus with a Santa's helper on board.

Madrid's lights from the bus

The Navibus is the most comfortable way to see Madrid's Christmas lights: you hop on a panoramic double-decker bus and ride along the main illuminated streets of the centre without having to walk or battle the crowds on the pavement. On board, a Santa's helper livens up the ride, which makes it a very family-friendly plan.

It is the ideal alternative to the Christmas lights walking tour when you are travelling with small children or older relatives, or you simply prefer to take in the show from above and out of the cold. From the top deck, the views of the lit-up façades and the big trees of the centre are unbeatable.

  • Departures: every 15 minutes, from 6:00 pm to 10:15 pm.

Tips for the Navibus

  • Best time: the first departures (6:00–7:00 pm) tend to be less in demand; the after-dinner ones are the most sought-after at weekends.
  • With kids: it is the most comfortable Christmas plan for them: they sit down, stay warm and have the Santa's helper.
  • Book online: in December the departures fill up; buying in advance secures your spot in the slot you want.
  • Pair it up: do the Navibus one day and, another evening, the Christmas lights walking tour to see them up close.
  • Getting there: take the metro to the centre; driving around Madrid at Christmas is tricky and parking is expensive.
