Destinations by country: our current coverage
At Tickets Visit we've thoroughly analysed tours, tickets and free tours in a selection of European countries where we have our own content in Spanish, English and French. When we travel in person or someone in the team knows a city well, we write honest analyses of what's worth booking and what isn't.
This is the current list of countries and cities we cover. If your destination is here, it means we have comparisons, verified data and specific recommendations. If it's not here, we haven't been able to visit it personally yet and we prefer not to write about activities we haven't tested or researched in depth.
Spain
Our home country and where we have the most depth. We cover the main tourist destinations with detailed analysis:
- Madrid: the capital with the highest concentration of activities. We have analyses of the Royal Palace, the Bernabéu, museums, the Art Walk, the Warner Theme Park, the Literary Quarter free tour, day trips to Cuenca and El Escorial, and tapas tours. Plus the seasonal: Torrejón at Christmas.
- Granada: analyses of Alhambra and Generalife tickets (one of Europe's hardest tickets to get) and the Granada free tour.
- Toledo: the tourist wristband covering several monuments.
- Barcelona: analysis of viewpoints and city attractions.
Italy
Coverage focused on Rome, where we have analyses of the most popular tours:
- Rome: guided tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, one of the best value-for-money activities when done with a professional guide.
France
Focus on one of Europe's most-visited family destinations:
- Paris: Disneyland Paris tickets with analysis of the different formats (1 day, 2 parks, multi-day with hotel).
Poland
Coverage of the most significant historic destination:
- Krakow: Auschwitz-Birkenau ticket and tour with mandatory official guide. A dense, emotional visit worth preparing for.
Hungary
- Budapest: Széchenyi and Gellért thermal baths, part of the must-do experience in the city.
Portugal
- Lisbon: free tour of Alfama and old Lisbon.
How to choose your next destination (with honest criteria)
If it's your first international trip
We recommend starting with Paris or Rome. They have very developed tourist infrastructure, easy public transport, and so many monuments that any trip "works out" even with little planning. Granada and Lisbon are more manageable alternatives if a big capital feels overwhelming.
If you want maximum value for money
Krakow and Budapest remain notably cheaper than Western Europe. The quality of experiences (especially Auschwitz in Krakow and the baths in Budapest) is very high for reasonable prices.
If you have little time (3-4 days)
Better to concentrate on one city with good nearby excursions: Madrid + Toledo or El Escorial, or Granada + Seville, gives you variety without the hassle of moving hotel.
If travelling with kids
Paris with Disneyland is the classic that rarely disappoints. Madrid with Warner Park and trips to Aranjuez also works very well for families.
If you're especially interested in history
Rome is unbeatable for historic density (Vatican + Colosseum in one week). Krakow offers the most emotional dimension (Auschwitz). Granada is ideal for understanding the Arab footprint in Spain.
Why some destinations don't appear here (yet)
We work with a simple principle: we only recommend what we can verify with our own criteria. There are huge destinations (Istanbul, Athens, Berlin, Prague) that don't appear because we haven't visited them in depth yet, or because the Civitatis team we partner with has better local coverage in other markets.
If you miss a specific destination, write to us. When we receive several requests for the same place, we move it up the priority list to add our own content.
How we organise destination pages
In each destination you'll find this common structure:
- Destination page: introduction, what to expect, best time to visit.
- Individual activity pages: specific analysis of each guided tour, ticket or free tour.
- FAQ per activity: with the real questions people ask before booking.
- Civitatis link: CTA at the end with affiliate code so you can book at the same price as on their site.
Frequently asked questions about destinations
What's the best European destination for a first visit?
Depends on the profile. For couples with cultural interest, Rome or Paris. For families with kids, Paris with Disneyland or Madrid with Warner Park. For best value, Krakow or Budapest.
When's the best time to travel to these destinations?
May-June and September-October are the most balanced months: pleasant weather, less crowding than July-August and moderate prices. December is excellent for Christmas markets. Avoid July-August in the Mediterranean if you can.
Should I book everything from home or buy on the spot?
For top monuments (Vatican, Alhambra, Auschwitz) book online in advance: spots sell out. For restaurants, local transport and minor activities you can buy in each destination.
Which destination has the best free tours?
By average guide quality, we recommend Madrid (Literary Quarter), Granada (Albaicín) and Lisbon (Alfama) as the most solid. Berlin also has fame but we don't have own coverage there yet.
In how many countries can you offer bookings?
Through Civitatis there are activities in over 150 destinations worldwide. But we only have own analyses in the countries listed above. For other destinations use the full directory.
